COVID-19 + Small Business

For Immediate Release:

We know that these are difficult times. Times in which small businesses like ours will need the support of our local communities to stay alive and to thrive. Please take a moment to explore and shop those who could use your help!

If you are a small business owner and would like to be placed on our list, email michael@allendorf.co . If you are local to our community and would like to share a small business, email hello@allendorf.co .

Fort Bend County:

    • Aurea Salon Aveda- is a Lifestyle salon in LaCenterra at Cinco Ranch, Katy, TX.

      • If you would like to #supportyourstylist, you can do so by purchasing some swag. Visit Imaginal Marketing Swag Store and choose Aurea Salon at check out. Look cute away from the salon and then wear it at your next appointment.

    • Whiskey Cake Katy- serves up tasty farm-to-kitchen dishes and cocktails, all made from scratch with ingredients sourced from local and regional farms and markets.

      • If you would like to #supportwhiskeycake, you can purchase one of their staple food packages at the drive thru pick up. Take for instance their The MEAT lovers package costing only $55 which includes; 6 (8oz) burger patties, 1 whole marinated chicken, 2 (8oz) sirloins, mixed produce, 1 gallon of milk, 1lb of butter, 15 eggs, and 1 roll of toilet paper. Harris County:

  • Chloe Dao- Project Runway, Season 2 winner was catapulted into international fame as the immigrant designer living out her American dream.

    • If you would like to #supportyourdesigner, you can donate funds for their team and to buy supplies to continue to make face masks for our community, healthcare professionals, and first responders. Via Chloe Dao.

  • David Peck- Wednesday, March 25th, we launched production on our first batch of 1,250 #Coronavirus masks. Since launching, we have been flooded with requests from various doctors, nurses, and health organizations for more. We have now upped our production 3,600 masks.

    • If you would like #supportyourdesigner, you can consider making a $10 donation to help us continue production. If you'd like to donate more, just adjust the quantity. The money raised will help purchase materials and fund our workers who are creating the masks. Via David Peck.

Around the United States:

  • Ashley Lawrence- "For anyone who uses speech reading, lip reading, anybody like that," Lawrence said about the purpose of the masks. "And people who are profoundly deaf who use ASL as their primary mode of communication. ASL is very big on facial expressions and it is part of the grammar. So I don't know if you have seen Virginia Moore on Andy Beshear's things at five o'clock, but she's very emotive, and if half of that is gone because you're wearing a mask then half of what you're saying is being missed, so even if it's not physically talking and just using ASL, then you need to have that kind of access."

    • If you would like to show #support, order one of Lawrence's masks or show support, reach out to her. Via email.

Around the Globe:

  • Adopt a Grandparent- Campaign to bring a sense of comfort to young people and the elderly who may not have grandparents/grandchildren of their own, with the aim of creating long-lasting intergenerational friendships.

    • If you would like to #supportelderly, what started as a local search, reaching out to those local to our home, soon became a global campaign, with kind and considerate individuals hailing from as far as Australia to help bring some happiness to those we care for. Via CHD Living.
